“O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.” – II Chronicles 20:12, 24 NKJV

I went to a concert some time ago and had planned to leave my apartment two hours prior to the start of the event to get a front seat, especially as I was going by myself. For a bit of context, doing things by myself is something I’m learning how to do, as this season of my life demands it. Unfortunately, I was asked by my office to work overtime, delaying my plans. When I got to the bus station, a friend I had made on my daily route to work popped up beside me, and we ended up going to the concert together. I was in tears the entire concert. To be fair, I’m always crying in His presence, but this time, it was because God had given me a friend. I wasn’t expecting it and was planning to go to the worship concert regardless, but He did it anyway.

It’s an example of the glimpses of God I have seen in this season of my life, where I’m still learning to be physically away from a community I’m familiar with and intimately known by. And it’s small by comparison, but it reminded me of the true stories we know from the word of God. Today, we are highlighting King Jehoshaphat of Judah. He was afraid because the people of Moab and Ammon came to battle the people of Judah. According to the Word, He sought the Lord by declaring a fast throughout Judah, and surrendered to Him, stating: “we have no power…nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You”. The Lord asked him to position himself, stand still and “see the salvation of the Lord who is with you” (vs. 17). He went to the battlefield as instructed and praised in faith (vs. 21-22). The end result? No one escaped.

God made these testimonies by Himself. There were vessels, but the final product was nothing short of miraculous. There is no logical explanation for it. There was an unexplainable move that spoke of Him. There will come a time that like me, your situation or season demands full reliance on God. I can testify, as I’m sure you can, that it is difficult to trust in what you can’t see. It’s incredibly hard to be in instances that you cannot control, and where our limitations are obvious. It’s almost impossible to see power where you feel there is none. But this is the same God that saved the people of Judah, that carried Israel out of Egypt (Exodus 5-12), and that kept Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3:16-28), amongst many others. God has good plans for us, and He will come and save us. He is God, by Himself.

I pray in Jesus’ name for a revelation of His character and power in your life. I pray for an increase of your faith regardless of whatever you are facing, because He is God of it all. I pray for a testimony that cements your confidence and surrender to Jesus, and for a turnaround that can only be attributed to His mighty hand. Nothing, or no one, will escape. Amen.
